It was a great (if exhausting) meeting this year, with the state-of-the art in genomics science on display, [announcements](http://en.genomics.cn/navigation/show_news.action?newsContent.id=8952 "M+M+M announcements"){target="_blank" rel="noopener"} of three exciting \"Million Genomes\" projects to come from the BGI and their many collaborators, and a chance to catch up with many members of our [editorial board](http://www.gigasciencejournal.com/about/edboard "Editorial Board"){target="_blank" rel="noopener"} and friends.\ ]{style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;"} [**GigaDb -- a new look website**\ The biggest news at the meeting was the launch of our new-look [GigaDB.org](http://gigadb.org/ "GigaDB"){target="_blank" rel="noopener"} website and additional datasets at the pre-conference data release [workshop and press-conference](http://archive.genomeconference.org/File/Mp4/Welcome_Reception/Welcome_Reception.html "ICG data and software release."){target="_blank" rel="noopener"}. This is still very much in beta-form (comments and feedback greatly appreciated at \, but builds upon our original [release](http://blogs.biomedcentral.com/gigablog/2011/11/gigascience_giga_database_and_now "July data release"){target="_blank" rel="noopener"} of datasets in July and presents them together in a single portal.  Following the success of the outbreak [*E. coli* 0:104](http://blogs.biomedcentral.com/gigablog/2011/11/notes_from_an_e_coli "Notes from a tweenome"){target="_blank" rel="noopener"} and [Macaque](http://blogs.biomedcentral.com/gigablog/2011/11/news_from_another_of_our "Macaque genomes in Nature Biotech"){target="_blank" rel="noopener"} genome datasets in demonstrating the practicalities of [data citation](http://datacite.org/whycitedata "Why cite data?"){target="_blank" rel="noopener"}, we have released another 20 datasets with citable [DOIs](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_object_identifier "DOIs"){target="_blank" rel="noopener"}. These span most of the tree of life, and include previously unsupported data-types.]{style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;"} [ **New Data from across the Tree of Life**\ Following on from the release of seven vertebrate genomes from the [Genome10K](http://www.genome10k.org/ "Genome 10K"){target="_blank" rel="noopener"} project in July, we have now added genomic data from the [Sheep](http://dx.doi.org/10.5524/100023 "Sheep Genome"){target="_blank" rel="noopener"}, [Tibetan Antelope](http://dx.doi.org/10.5524/100027 "Tibetan Antelope"){target="_blank" rel="noopener"} and [Naked Mole Rat](http://dx.doi.org/10.5524/100022 "Naked Mole Rat Genome"){target="_blank" rel="noopener"}. [Genome](http://dx.doi.org/10.5524/100015 "YH genome"){target="_blank" rel="noopener"}, [transcriptome](http://dx.doi.org/10.5524/100013 "YH transcriptome"){target="_blank" rel="noopener"} and [methylome](http://dx.doi.org/10.5524/100014 "YH methylome"){target="_blank" rel="noopener"} data is provided from an Asian Individual, and we are currently uploading data from Ancient DNA studies on an Eskimo and Aboriginal Australian. We now have plant genomes from the [Potato](http://dx.doi.org/10.5524/100020 "Potato genome"){target="_blank" rel="noopener"}, [Foxtail Millet](http://dx.doi.org/10.5524/100020 "Millet genome"){target="_blank" rel="noopener"}, [Sorghum](http://dx.doi.org/10.5524/100012 "Sorghum genome"){target="_blank" rel="noopener"}, [Cucumber](http://dx.doi.org/10.5524/100025 "Cucumber genome"){target="_blank" rel="noopener"}, [Chinese Cabbage](http://dx.doi.org/10.5524/100021 "Chinese Cabbage"){target="_blank" rel="noopener"} and [Pigeon Pea](http://dx.doi.org/10.5524/100028 "Pigeon Pea genome"){target="_blank" rel="noopener"}, and invertebrate genomes from three species of ants, many strains of [silkworm](http://dx.doi.org/10.5524/100024 "Silkworm genomes"){target="_blank" rel="noopener"} and a pathogenic pig [roundworm](http://dx.doi.org/10.5524/100017 "Roundworm genome"){target="_blank" rel="noopener"}.
